The Games: Part 1

All tributes are ready facing the Cornucopia, the golden horn filled with weapons and food to last the Games. And their off! Katniss eyes were pointed at the silver bow and arrow, but Glimmer from District 1( Leven Rambin) retrieved it. Instead, she battles for an orange backpack and escapes into the woods.

Late at night, Katniss perched in a tree, heard voices. Alarmed and frightened, she saw the Careers, a pack of tributes from Districts 1,2,3,and 4. The Careers usually pair up every year, but as Katniss listens to their chatter, she hears a voice that's not usually in the pack: Peeta.

One other job of the Gamemakers is adding a twist to the Games: fire, blizzards, machinery made monsters: to bring tributes together for a fight and to add fun and suspense. So, as Katniss wakes up from her sleeping bag from her backpack she sees it: the forest, ablaze in fire, a Gamemaker's fire.

Dodging the fire balls, she finally loses the Game: a fireball hits her in the leg. Katniss, screaming and gasping for air, falls. The fire ends. It's then she hears the Careers, chasing her.

Running with all her might, she scales a tree and sleeps for the night.


Rue, district 11, points out Katniss a tracker jacker nest, bugs like wasps are deadly capitol insects. Seeing it, she cuts the branch with the nest to the ground and launches it at the careers.
